Special Olympics athletes honored at banquet
ANSONIA - Marie Young loves to watch her 9-year-old granddaughter, Taylor, swim. She makes it to most of the meets during the six-month long season, and sometimes finds herself overcome by what she sees.
      "Sometimes I have tears in my eyes. I can't help it," she said.
      "I love to watch her."
      Taylor Whalley is a Special Olympics athlete, one of 49 from the area honored Monday at a banquet at John J. Sullivan's restaurant in Ansonia.

Free summer entertainment offered
SHELTON- A couple of lawn chairs is all you need for nights of free entertainment this summer. Starting July 12, the Shelton Youth Service Bureau will sponsor movie nights at Riverwalk Park every Saturday while the Shelton Parks and Recreation Departments hosts concerts Wednesday nights through August at the Huntington Greene.
